    About Meadow's Pond Soaps

Our soap varieties change with availability of ingredients throughout the year.  Our soaps are made in our “green”, off the grid home in the woods, using a wood stove in the winter to heat ingredients.  When a neighbor calls and offers her calendula, lavender or chamomile flowers, it's time to make lavender or calendula-chamomile soap. When another says,  “Come and get some rose hips before the birds eat them all”, it's time for a batch of rose hip infused soap, and, when a local pig or cow farmer tells me that they processed  their animals, I render the fat and make lard or tallow for soap.  There are many artisans in Canterbury with products I use for my soaps and balms.  I'm always happy to add more varieties to my list.  Unfortunately, there are some varieties that are limited editions because of  seasonal ingredients and farmers' choices. I was once able to make beautiful sheep tallow soap but the farmer decided to discontinue raising sheep.  Therefore, no more Ewe Eucalyptus soap for now.  I just learned about another sheep farmer nearby!
So, enjoy the soap varieties while they last.  And give me your ideas, too.  I'm always happy to play with new ingredients. I hope you enjoy them!
